Face to Face
Captured in Zilzie, Queensland
Sometimes wildlife photography is simply about catching an animal in a moment when it is completely at ease.
I came across this kangaroo sitting quietly beside the water at Zilzie. He wasn't moving around or doing anything dramatic. He was simply sitting there, upright and relaxed, looking out across the wetlands.
There was something about his posture that caught my attention. Those big paws resting in front, the relaxed expression and the stillness of the moment made him look almost as though he was taking a break from the world.
These are the moments I enjoy photographing most. Nothing staged, nothing forced — just an ordinary moment in the life of an animal that happened to be there when I was.
You never really know what you'll find when you take a camera into the wetlands. Sometimes the best photographs are the quiet ones.
This image is available as a premium canvas print and fine art print, bringing a little piece of Zilzie into your home.
